Therapeutic Massage

Deeply relaxing for the body and mind, therapeutic massage focuses on supporting and calming the nervous system, offering relief from stress, pain, and muscle tension. Sessions are tailored to each individual’s needs, integrating Swedish, myofascial release, deep tissue, and trigger point techniques based on intake interview and established goals for the session, with a focus on deep listening and offering grounding, calming energy through receptive, warm hands.

Prenatal massage can help to soothe the aches and pains that often come with pregnancy. Additional benefits include improved circulation, lower stress levels, and improved sleep patterns. The pregnant person will be supported with pillows and bolsters to create maximum comfort and safety while lying on their side or face-up, with an option of lying face-down with special cushions throughout the first trimester, or for as long as the client’s healthcare provider approves. Prenatal clients should always check with their healthcare provider before booking a prenatal massage session.

Trager Movement Therapy

Using gentle, deep bodywork and passive movement, Trager sessions help to release underlying patterns of habitually held tension, bringing a greater sense of ease and freer range of movement. Rhythmic rocking and wave-like movements promote deep relaxation, allowing the nervous system to be lulled into a state of peaceful presence. Comfortable, unrestrictive clothing is worn for these sessions and no lotions or oils are used.

Mobile & Onsite Sessions

Don’t want to leave home, or the office? Mobile sessions are available for individuals or group events. You provide a quiet room or space, and I will come to you with all the necessities for a session. Rates for mobile sessions will include a $50 travel/setup fee (rates may vary depending on distance). Get in touch for more information or to book a mobile session.

Mindfulness & Wakeful Movement

an online series VIA ZOOM
Tuesdays, January 20 - March 3
Mindfulness Meditation / 8-8:20am (free)
Wakeful Movement / 8:30-9:30am (donations welcome)

You may join for both meditation and movement from 8-9:30, or come for only one section. Drop-ins for single classes are welcome. The Zoom room will be open 10 minutes early, to allow you to arrive and get whatever you need to be comfy.

The first 20 minutes will be dedicated to practicing mindfulness meditation while seated or lying down, bringing our attention to the breath and body, so that the thinking mind may have a chance to settle and rest. After a 5-10 minute break, we will begin a Wakeful Movement practice at 8:30am.

Wakeful Movement will be a gentle, lighthearted practice inspired by various somatic practices, helping us to awaken connection to and within our body. Please note: this is not an exercise/workout class! It is a movement practice intended to bring awareness and liveliness to our WHOLE body - expanding beyond our head and brain, where we spend most of our time :) Sometimes the movements are slow and subtle, sometimes quicker and playful. Frequent pauses are invited as a way to integrate and punctuate the practice. Your comfort and ease are of utmost importance, so you are always free to modify or move (or rest) in any way that feels good for you.

What you’ll need: For Mindfulness Meditation, any chair, cushion, or supports that will help you to sit or lie on the floor comfortably. For Wakeful Movement, you should have enough floor space to lie down and stretch, and having a pillow/blanket and a sturdy chair or yoga blocks is recommended. A yoga mat may be helpful, but isn’t necessary.

Suggested donation: $10-25 per week, but no-one will be turned away for lack of funds. You may pay for one or more classes at the same time - no need to book each class separately. Payment via check, or Venmo (@HelloBody) is preferred, or you can receive a link to pay by credit card once you register. Checks can be mailed to Breathing Bodies, 187 S. Winooski Ave, Burlington, VT 05401.

A Zoom link for class will be emailed to you once you register.
